African Milk tree, Euphorbia trigona 4″ inch pot, Red Original Color African Milktree, Red Cathedral Cactus Milk Tree, Well Rooted Starter

African Milk Tree ( Euphorbia Trigona ) is a mix between a cactus and a succulent with both traits. Their thick stem grows vertically upward with stems and thorns attached. It is native to Africa, where they thrive in a dry climate.

African milk tree is a common houseplant used for indoor decoration or outdoor landscapes. They thrive in full sun to partial shade and appreciate sandy soil. Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole to prevent root rot.

Fertilizing them once a month during their growing season using a diluted water-soluble fertilizer will help them grow faster. You can propagate this plant via stem cuttings. African milk trees are toxic to humans and pets, so do not mingle with them.

You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 9b-11.

  3. Does not at all look like the picture. Not even hardly. It’s pathetic and sparse and droopy and I watered it and it’s still rather sad looking. Not really encouraging.

  5. I placed the order on May 18 and the items still have not shipped. Today is June 1. The vender created a shipping label to make it look like they shipped the order on the 18th of May. I emailed Plantly yesterday May 31st and haven’t heard back yet. I am unhappy with Plantly and will not order from them again.
