Fish hook barrel cactus fruit (Ferocactus wislizeni) has a ball-shaped cactus that produces yellow to red-orange flowers and pineapple-shaped cactus fruit appears atop during summer. The fruit has green when unripe, and yellow after the flower dries up. It has thirty thousand tiny spherical black seeds.

The fruit is high in oxalic acid. This plant is native to northern Mexico and the southern United States and thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It is low maintenance, drought tolerant, easy to care for once established, and perfect for beginners.

The best way to propagate them is via seeds. You can grow them in USDA 9-11.
