Buddha Hand Citron Tree is small and shrubby with green, oblong leaves and serrate margins and produces unique fruits that have fragrant flesh as they mature. It has a finger-like shape that resembles a giant hand. The fruit has no juicy pulp or seeds.
It is thought to have originated in northeastern India, where it is often used in offerings. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. They are easy to grow and easy to care for once established.
Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and ensure there is excellent drainage to prevent rot. Fertilizing them during their growing season using citrus-specific fertilizer will help them grow faster. You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 10-11.
Watch out for mealy bugs and aphids. Use insecticidal soap to kill them.
