Mammillaria elongata (Copper King) is a nursery-produced cultivar that is easy to grow and easy to care for once established. It is native to Central Mexico. It produces elongated cylindrical, finger-like stems in clusters with dark coppery-red spines, and colored white or yellow flowers will bloom at the top of the stems throughout the spring season.
It thrives in full sun to partial shade and a well-drained soil mix. If grown indoors, place them in an area where they can get enough sunlight to thrive. Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole in the pot to prevent root rot.
Fertilizing them during their growing season using a cactus and succulent fertilizer will help them grow faster. You can propagate them via cuttings, seeds, and division. You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zone 9b-11b at 25-50 degrees F.
