Eugenia Klotzschiana (Pera do Cerrado) is a small tree that produces pear-shaped fruits as they mature. This tree is a deciduous shrub that grows up to 150cm tall. It is native to the Brazilian Cerrado (savannah) region, where it thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil.

The fruit has thin skin with thick, juicy, aromatic pulp that has an acidic flavor. The fruit can weigh 60 – 90g. Growing them is easy and low maintenance once establishd.

Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole in the pot to prevent root rot. Fertilizing them once a month during their growing season will help them produce more fruits. The only way to propagate them is via seeds.

  1. I always struggle to find plants that will grow in the full sun, clay soil area behind my house, but this plant is hanging in and growing. I can’t wait til the hummingbirds start to come.

  2. It arrived intact, just in need of some care. I’m happy to have got this one, this tree means a lot to me – one of my favorite as a child in the countryside of Brazil.

  7. I have purchased now three cold hardy citrus (citrandarin, and swingle citrumelo) both are in ground, doing great, but this thomasville cintrangaquat is shriveled, looks dry, and not happy. Little concerned this one is not going to make it and do as well as the other two.
