Peperomias are also known as Radiator plants
Peperomias are easy-going, low-maintenance houseplants which makes them great for beginners. A wonderful genus of tropical plants with more than 1,000 known species, all with thick, fleshy leaves that contribute to their drought tolerance and vigor. They are Native to South American rainforests. They are slow growing and compact. Although they may look like succulents, they are not. They require more water and higher humidity than a regular succulent.
Light: Peperomias are happiest in medium to bright light. They DO NOT like direct sunlight. They do well under fluorescent lighting, which making them ideal for offices.
Water: Peperomias do not like to be over watered. Water only when the soil has almost dried out. It is best to water them from underneath. Water will then be stored in the leaves making them quite drought tolerant.
Temperature: Prefers warm temps of 60-80 degrees in the day and no lower than 55 degrees at night.
Food: Peperomias do not require much fertilizer. Any diluted liquid fertilizer labeled for indoor plants will work. Use only once or twice in the spring or summer.
Soil: A peat based; well-draining soil is best. 2 parts, peat and 1-part perlite or sand is a good mix.
In general, Peperomia are not a problem species, although a grower must watch out for overwatering and cold conditions that may cause serious harm including plant rot. Sudden drops in temperature and cold drafts can also cause problems including sudden leaf drop.
There are no known major common problems with pests.
Heat packs are available to purchase during the winter months as an add on item. You need to add on a heat pack if you live in an area where the temps are below 50 degrees consistently. You will need one heat pack per box. If you order multiple plants you may need to purchase more than one heat pack.
It is the customer’s responsibility to check weather conditions and be aware of extreme conditions that may negatively impact their order. Cold damage due to customers not purchasing the heat pack option will be excluded from the replacement guarantee. Please be sure to leave a note with your USPS mail person for proper placement of packages to avoid prolonged temperature exposure.
We ship all of our plants via USPS. We prep our orders on Monday and ship on Tuesday and Wednesday every week. If you place an order after Monday at 9 AM Eastern time, it will not ship out until the following week. We take extreme care when packaging and shipping our plants to ensure you receive a happy, healthy plant.
Plants are shipped in a 4” or 6″” nursery pot with soil. Any decorative pots seen in the pictures are not included.
The plant in the picture is not the exact same plant that you will receive unless otherwise stated in the listing. However, your plant will be very similar to the one pictured. It will be in the same size pot, with the same number of cuttings per pot.
We are currently only able to ship within the U.S. This does include Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Alaska and Guam.
Please track your order. We are not liable if your plant is severely damaged or dies from being left sitting in the hot or cold outside after it is delivered. Inspect your order upon arrival and communicate any discrepancies within 48 hours of receiving the plant, by sending us a message with a description of the problem along with as many pictures as possible. A few damaged/broken off leaves is completely normal during the shipping process. So, don’t panic.
As soon as you receive your package, please take the plant out of the box, and give it some water if the soil is dry. It is normal for plants to look limp and dry or have a few yellow leaves as they are stressed during transit. It may take one to two weeks for the plants to perk up as they acclimate to their new environment.
Please do not immediately repot your plant. It is stressed from traveling and needs at least two weeks to recover and acclimate to its new home.
We do not offer returns or exchanges once the plants have shipped.
