Hoya Macrophylla Variegated Tricolor in a 2 inch pot

Hoya Macrophylla is a unique plant that has variegated leaves of green, and white borders, large waxy leaves, and star-shaped flowers that will bloom when they mature. This plant is native to the tropical climate of Austral- Asia and loves a high-humidity environment. Growing them is easy and needs a little care once they are fully grown.

Providing them a high-quality potting soil with coco coir and mixed perlite will help them grow fast. You can plant them indoors and outdoors. When planting indoors, make sure to place them near a sunny window with a thin curtain where they can get enough sunlight to thrive.

This plant is not a frost-hardy, so make sure to plant them in a container that they can bring indoors when it’s the winter season. When watering them, use rainwater or distilled water and water thoroughly, allow the soil to dry before watering again to prevent root rot, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole in the pot. Fertilizing them during their growing season from spring to summer using a balanced liquid fertilizer will help them bloom into healthy ones.

This plant is toxic to humans and pets, so place them in an area where they cannot reach them. You can propagate them via stem cuttings. You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 10-11.

PRO CARE TIPS

Make sure to soak plant with water when soil is completely dry. Check if the soil is dry before each watering.

Best tip is to stick your thumb in the soil and check for moisture.

Direct sunlight for prolonged periods can cause sunburn (not good).
