Maranta–Red Prayer Plant

Maranta Leuconeura (Red Prayer Plant) has colorful foliage of soft dark green leaves with light green at the center of its leaf and red veins and produces white flowers in spring as it matures. It is native to the tropical forest of Brazil and is known for its flat leaves during the daytime, but it folds during nighttime. This plant is known for its habit of raising its leaves just like a praying hand.

You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zone 11-12 at 60-80 degrees F. It thrives in bright and indirect sunlight and moist but well-draining soil. This easy-to-grow plant is perfect for indoors, making them an attractive house plant, especially during cold months.

It is a lovely addition to your collection of plants, especially if you have it displayed in a beautiful pot. Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole to prevent root rot. Fertilizing them twice a month during their growing season from spring to fall using a water-soluble houseplant fertilizer will help them produce more leaves and grow healthy.

The best way to propagate them is via division.
