Additional information

Weight 1 lbs

Moses in the cradle (Tradescantia spathacea) is a popular houseplant that is native to Mexico, West Indies, Guatemala, and Central America. It has a sword-shaped leaf, dark green on the upper side and purple underside of the leaves, and unusual bracts that cradle small white flowers as they mature. Growing them as a houseplant is easy and doesn’t need much attention once established.

You can grow them both indoors and outdoors. When growing them indoors, plant them in a beautiful pot and place them in an area where there’s enough sunlight to thrive or on a console table where there is a big mirror hanging on the wall that gives additional beauty and freshness feeling to your space. Moses in the cradle loves a high-humidity environment.

This plant appreciates bright and indirect sunlight to thrive and well-drained soil. Allow the soil to dry before watering them and make sure there is an excellent draining hole in the pot to prevent soggy soil, which leads to root rot. Fertilizing them once a month from spring to summer using a water-soluble balanced fertilizer will help them boost their growth.

You can propagate them via division and stem cuttings. They are toxic to humans and pets, so make sure not to mingle with them. You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 9a-11b.

Does not at all look like the picture. Not even hardly. It’s pathetic and sparse and droopy and I watered it and it’s still rather sad looking. Not really encouraging.

got plant and was soaking wet. Aerial roots were rotted off. New growth was dead while still in sheath.

I placed the order on May 18 and the items still have not shipped. Today is June 1. The vender created a shipping label to make it look like they shipped the order on the 18th of May. I emailed Plantly yesterday May 31st and haven’t heard back yet. I am unhappy with Plantly and will not order from them again.
