Philodendron Bipennifolium Horsehead Green has beautiful foliage that can attract a plant enthusiast. It has shiny, olive green, leathery leaves, and a unique shape that resemble a violin or a horsehead. Philodendron plant originates in the rainforests of Brazil and Argentina, where they thrive in warm and high-humidity environments. Philodendron is a climbing plant that loves to climb up using a pole made of coco peat or sphagnum.
It is a lovely addition to your collection of plants, especially if you have it displayed in a beautiful pot. It thrives in bright indirect light and moist and well-drained soil mix. Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole in the pot to prevent root rot.
Fertilizing them once a month during their growing season using a slow-release fertilizer will help them boost their growth. The best way to propagate them is via stem cuttings. You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 10b-11.
Watch out for mites, scales, thrips, and mealy bugs. Use insecticidal soap and neem oil to kill them. This plant is toxic to humans and pets, so make sure not to mingle with them.
Philodendron bipennifolium has beautifully lobed, elongated leaves whose shape resembles the face of a horse, hence its common name, Horsehead Philodendron. The mature leaves are lightly textured and deep green, and will grow ever-larger and more interestingly shaped if the plant is given a support to climb such as a moss pole. Whether climbing or cascading, this unusual aroid is relatively simple to care for, making an easygoing and exotic member of your collection.
