Light: Spider Plants thrive in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. They can even grow in fluorescent lighting, making them suitable for office environments. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. Place the plant near a window with filtered light or in a well-lit room.

Temperature: Spider Plants prefer average room temperatures between 60 degree F to 75 degrees F. They can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but should be kept away from drafts or extreme temperature fluctuations.

Watering: Water the Spider Plant thoroughly when the top inch (2.5cm) of the soil feels dry to the touch. They prefer evenly moist soil but can tolerate short periods of drought. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Ensure good drainage by using a well-draining potting mix and a container with drainage holes.

Humidity: Spider Plants adapt well to average room humidity but appreciate slightly higher humidity levels. If the air is too dry, mist the leaves occasionally with room-temperature water or place the plant on a tray filled with pebbles and water. This will help increase humidity around the plant.

Fertilizer: Feed the Spider Plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every two to four weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or stop fertilization during the winter months when growth slows down. Be careful no to over fertilize, as it can cause leaf tip burn.

Pest and Diseases: Spider Plants are generally resistant to pests and diseases. However, occasionally they can be affected by spider mites or mealybugs. If detected, treat the infestation promptly with organic insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Additional Tips:

  • Your Spider Plant will arrive in a 2.5” nursery pot with soil. (depth 3”)
  • Spider Plants enjoy being slightly pot-bound, so avoid repotting too frequently.
  • Clean the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them looking vibrant.
  • Spider Plants are considered safe for pets, but it’s best to keep curious pets from nibbling on the leaves.

With its graceful foliage and easy care requirements, the Spider Plant is a delightful addition to any indoor space. Enjoy the beauty and air-purifying benefits this versatile plant brings to your home or office.
