Water: Water thoroughly once the top two to three inches of soil is dry. Philodendrons can stay slightly moist, but should not remain soggy for long periods of time. If leaves are drooped or curled in, you should give your plant some more water.
Light: Philodendron typically grow underneath tree canopies in nature. In your home, you can place your plant near a south or west facing window with a sheer curtain to filter light from the plant.
Soil: Standard commercial potting soil will work well for philodendrons. You can aerate the soil with a skewer if the soil becomes compacted and water begins pooling at the top of the soil. Repot your plant about once per year or when you notice the roots begin circling the pot or sprouting out of the drainage holes.
Fertilizer: You can use an indoor plant fertilizer every few weeks during the growing season.
Propagation: Use a sterilized knife or scissors to cut the stem just below a node, allow for 2-3 leaves to remain on the cutting for best results. Place your cutting in water or a leca water mixture and wait for roots to develop. This may take several weeks. Once roots are about 5 inches long, repot in regular potting soil.
