The Spineless Prickly Pear is a variety of cactus that bears edible pads when cooked and edible fruits during the summer. The height can reach up to 12 feet but it is very easy to prune. It is the most popular type for eating. Since it is spineless it is easier to prepare and handle. This type has yellow blooms which you will see during the summer. It likes well drained soil and full sun. It will do best in zones 9-11 and is very easy to propagate.
