Agave vilmoriniana also known as the octopus agave is a medium to large accent plant, growing to 4 feet high by 6 feet wide. The leaves are medium green, long and narrow, and deeply channeled. The leaves undulate and twist, showing why this plant is called octopus agave. The leaf margins have fine, soft serrations and a relatively soft terminal spine. It blooms only once, sending up a 15 to 20 foot tall spike of golden yellow flowers. The flowers are followed by seed capsules and bulbils (baby plants). As with all other agave species, octopus agave will die after flowering. Vilmoriniana is quite drought-tolerant once established, and it can grow in low desert regions without supplemental irrigation. It is tolerant of most soil types, from heavy clays to sandy soils.

Plants available are rooted divisions, shown in 3″ and 5″ pots. Plant will ship bare root. Will refund some of the shipping cost when placing an order for 2 or more plants. All my plants are healthy and pest free. I ship USPS priority mail 2-5 business days. All purchases on or after Wednesday will ship the following Monday to avoid plants spending the weekend at the post office. Not responsible for frozen plants or delays from postal service, that’s out of my hands. If you require a heat pack, I have some for sale, check under my other listings. I’m not making any money on these, I have them there for YOUR convenience. They are priced at $6 that’s to cover my cost. If you purchase a heat pack send me a message and let me know is for your order.
For orders cancelled or refunded 72 hours after being placed, there will be a $5 charge (deducted from total refund) to cover restocking and Stripe’s processing fee.

Received after 3 days I ordered. They arrived in a box. All wrapped loosely by used newspapers. You can see the roots with some soil still attached. I planted them in pots the next day. I put them in my sun room. Hope they will grow healthy and see the flowers soon.
