Dwarf Canary Island Date Palm (Phoenix Robellini)
$55.00$65.00 (-15%)
Phoenix roebelenii, with common names of pygmy date palm, miniature date palm or just robellini, is a species of date palm native to southeastern Asia. 4 foot tall currently. It is cold hardy to Zone 9a or around 25 degrees in-ground and 30 degrees in a pot. Reaching no more than 6-8 feet tall, this palm works very well as a house specimen in a pot or as a porch plant that is brought into a garage/house during the coldest days of our NC winter. Needs only partial sun and regular watering.

The Pygmy Date Palm tree is a subtropical spreading palm that grows to 6.5 feet high and 5 feet wide. As an indoor plant, it will probably reach 5-6 feet tall. It has fine leaves, an attractive trunk and is suitable for use indoors in cooler climates. The drupes are produced on female plants and are edible.
Plant in moist well-drained soil and give it protection from the hot afternoon sun since this plant prefers medium to high light. Keep the soil slightly moist during the growing season but do not overwater as it can cause root rot. This plant prefers to be slightly root-bound and doesn’t like frequent repotting. It also prefers medium humidity but has pest problems. Keep away from cold drafts in the winter.
