Moringa tree is known throughout the drumstick’ or ‘horseradish’ tree. It belongs to genus Moringa Moringa oleifera is an Angiospermic plant commonly known as having 13 different species. Among them, Moringa oleifera is the most widely cultivated species native to tropical and sub-tropical region of world. Moringa oleifera is a tropical deciduous perennial dicotyledonous tree. Does not tolerate long frosts. It does best outside in zones 9 and 10, but can be grown inside. Tree can be harvested every two months for its leaves, or left alone to produce drumsticks.
Morninga has edible leaves, flowers and drumsticks. The whole tree is edible and is great to make greens powder and tea. The leaves can be eaten as a superfood.
Moringa can be grown up to 40 ft, or kept as a hedge or even a bonsai.
