Dahlia is a genus of bushy, tuberous, herbaceous perennial plants native to Mexico and Central America. Dahlias have leafy stems and bright, colored flowers with rays. Dahlias can also be grown from seeds and are difficult to grow.
Potential problems in growing dahlias are aphids, powdery mildew, root rot, virus and wilting. If grown indoors, place them near a sunny window to encourage flowering. Use soap and clean water to clean pests and apply neem oil after.
There are 42 species available of dahlias in different colors. Some of these are the famous sunflowers and daisies. It thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil.
