Solomon’s seal (Polygonatum) is a genus of elegant woodland plants that are native to North America. Although the small, tubular flowers—which come in white, green, or pink—are charming, it’s the slender arching stems and lance-shaped leaves that make Solomon’s seal such a favorite in shade gardens and woodland settings. Once established, Solomon’s seal slowly spreads and creates a blanket of foliage that turns a golden yellow in autumn.
Size varies among the species. Most of Solomon’s seal plants grow to around 1 to 2 feet tall. There is a giant Solomon’s seal (Polygonatum biflorum var. commutatum) that reaches around 5 feet tall or higher and really makes a statement in the garden. These plants grow at a moderate pace and can take a few years to bloom when grown from seed. They can be planted in the spring or fall.

The little trees appear healthy with green buds emerging. I did find it strange that they were not labeled with what they were, nor was there any paperwork with them, nor directions. I would strongly recommend that anyone buying these little plants wash all the soil off and bareroot them. They have a nice healthy root system, but the roots had grown down to the bottom of the pot, and then back to the top again, and with some circling. By barerooting them, and placing the plant on a little mound of soil and spreading the roots evenly around and down that mound, then partially filling in the planting hole, watering, adding soil to proper level to the base of the stem where the root flare starts, mulching with fine would chips (keeping the chips a few inches away from the stem) and watering again, they should have a good start.
I received the 5 trees I ordered and 4 were in great shape and 1 was broken. I got them planted and just wanting to see them grow. Excited!
I guess I can review it better later. No planting instructions were included. Keeping my fingers crossed that I planted them correctly. (I did Google planting instructions)
Shipping was super fast. The plant came in good condition. The packaging was beat up upon arrival. One leaf is damaged, but the plant seems ok for now.
Has 3 leaves is a little wrinkly. Hope it gets better! Such a cool little plant. Shipped carefully and quickly.

These are bare roots. They looked very healthy. I am withholding the 5th star until I see them sprout.
