Kalanchoe tomentosa (Chocolate Soldier) has a lovely succulent shrub with fuzzy green leaves and dark chocolate margins that grows up to 2 ft tall. This easy-to-grow and low maintainance plant is a perfect houseplant for a succulent enthusiast. Growing this plant in gritty succulent soil with coco coir and perlite will help improve the water drainage of the pot.
This plant is native to Madagascar. You can plant them in a beautiful succulent pot and place them in an area where there is enough sunlight to thrive or on a windowsill for additional decoration in your space. Kalanchoe Chocolate Soldier appreciates bright, indirect light and drought-tolerant plants.
Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight can cause leaf burn. Allow the soil to dry before watering again to prevent root rot. Fertilizing them during their growing season will help the plant grow healthy. It is toxic to humans and pets, so make sure not to mingle with them.
The easiest way to propagate them is via leaf cuttings and seeds. You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 9a-11b at 30-50 degrees F.
