Gasteria is a genus of succulent plants endemic to South Africa. growing in the dry regions of the south and south-eastern Cape. Adapted to the erratic rainfall of their ecosystem, they are slow-growing xerophytic perennials, drought-resistant, shade-loving, and shallow-rooted. They are distinguished from aloes and haworthias, to which they are closely related. The name of the genus derives from the Latin word for “stomach”, and refers to the shape of the flower. The recurved pendulous flowering stalks and gasteriform (stomach-shaped), curved flowers, loosely arranged on spreading racemes

It is particularly easy to grow and rarely affected by common succulent pests and diseases. Strong, drought-tolerant roots will grow if they have great drainage and infrequent water. Pick deep containers with drainage holes and a gritty, well-draining soil that is 50% to 70% mineral grit (coarse sand, pumice, or perlite). Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole and allow the soil to completely dry before watering again.

This is a RARE find, minuture gasteria are not very common. I’m selling 3 rooted divisions of my mother plant, shown here in a 8″ pot. The single divisions shown in a 2.5″ pot. All my plants are healthy and pest free. This plant will ship bare root. I ship priority mail 2-5 business days. All purchases on or after Wednesday will ship the following Monday to avoid plants spending the weekend at the post office. Not responsible for frozen plants or delays from postal service, that’s out of my hands. If you require a heat pack, I have some for sale, check under my other listings. I’m not making any money on these, I have them there for YOUR convenience. They are priced at $6 that’s to cover my cost. Received after 3 days I ordered. They arrived in a box. All wrapped loosely by used newspapers. You can see the roots with some soil still attached. I planted them in pots the next day. I put them in my sun room. Hope they will grow healthy and see the flowers soon.
