Additional information

Weight 1 lbs

Pouteria Venosa (Guapeva peach / Aboirana) is an evergreen tree with a wide, roundish and dense crown. The tree can grow from 12 – 24 metres tall in the wild. The edible fruit is gathered from the wild and consumed locally, though it is not widely cultivated. Grows best in a moist soil in dappled shade. Prefers a clay, fertile, well-drained soil in the wild

The fruits are consumed naturally, but they are much tastier when used in the preparation of creams (milk shakes), in the same way as avocado or canistel and cutitis cream is prepared.

Cultivation: Soils with good drainage, in tropical and subtropical climates, in full sun. Addug regularly.

Origin: Pouteria venosa is a species of wide geographical distribution (Venezuela, Guyanas, Amazon and Southeast Brazil), but all our seedlings come from trees originating on the Southeast coast.

Family: Sapotaceae.

Observations: Rare species in domestic orchards, being known only to a few fruit collectors.

I always struggle to find plants that will grow in the full sun, clay soil area behind my house, but this plant is hanging in and growing. I can’t wait til the hummingbirds start to come.

It arrived intact, just in need of some care. I’m happy to have got this one, this tree means a lot to me – one of my favorite as a child in the countryside of Brazil.

I have purchased now three cold hardy citrus (citrandarin, and swingle citrumelo) both are in ground, doing great, but this thomasville cintrangaquat is shriveled, looks dry, and not happy. Little concerned this one is not going to make it and do as well as the other two.

I ordered the Shenandoah pawpaw seeds. The shipping was fast and seeds were in good condition. Planted them and waiting for sprouts.
